About Me

This is me in Ethiopia in December 2011

My name is Erika. I am a wife, mother, full-time employee, household manager, and volunteer. Like everyone else, I am sometimes overwhelmed by my long list of things-to-do and lack of time for relaxing. I try my best not to overwhelmed by the small day-to-day things that really don't matter in the big scheme of life. Instead, I try to focus on the big things that matter in the long run. I probably think way too much about my children's education, the food we eat, the money we spend and what we buy, the resources we use, the privileges we have, the general state of world affairs, and how I can contribute to making the world a better place. As such, I read a lot of non-fiction books, watch a too many documentaries for my own good, and take classes at the university I work at just for fun! I believe the quote, "With age comes wisdom." I just wish aging didn't also come with gray hair and wrinkles. If I didn't need to earn any money, I would probably be a professional student or full-time world traveler. I write this blog to organize my scattered thoughts and to share life's happenings with friends and family (especially my dad, who often times thinks I am crazy).
